Total points tell you what he did. Matchups tell you who he did it to.
Some players turn up against the teams they're about to face. Others quietly disappear. Ace Analyst holds up to seven seasons of fixture-level history, so you can tell which is which before you hand over the armband.
The problem
A green fixture and an easy matchup aren't always the same thing
Fixture difficulty is one number standing in for eleven different problems. A defence can look fine in aggregate and still be genuinely leaky to a specific position, or specifically at home, or specifically against players who get in behind. The ticker doesn't know what you're buying.

Read this correctly
This is historical context, not a prediction. Samples can be small, especially for newly promoted teams or players with limited minutes against a given opponent — and what a player did before does not decide what he does next.
